Samsung 58th Festival of Sport (Baseball) Officially Goes Underway
The much-anticipated Samsung 58th Festival of Sport (Baseball) Opening Ceremony took place in Sai Tso Wan Baseball Field last Saturday.This year’s Festival of Sport (Baseball) is proudly organized by the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, title-sponsored by Samsung, co-hosted by the Hong Kong Baseball Association, subvented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, as well as sponsored by New Era. The various tournaments include the Hong Kong University Baseball Tournament 2015, the Hong Kong Secondary School Baseball Elite Championship 2015 and the Hong Kong Primary School Baseball Championship 2015.
This year’s winning team in the Hong Kong University Baseball Tournament 2015 will receive the honour of representing Hong Kong in the China Universities National Championship that is scheduled to take place in Dalian, China. New Era will also generously equipped the Hong Kong side with quality baseball caps for the prestigious tournament.
On the other hand, several of the participating teams in this year’s Festival of Sport also took time to take part in the demonstration of “Simple Baseball”, a newly-developed baseball game by the Hong Kong Baseball Association, during the opening ceremony. Through promoting “Simple Baseball”, HKBA hopes to introduce the game of baseball to more students and their families, as well as increasing the participation-level of the wonderful game of baseball in Hong Kong.
