To Prepare for the 29th Asian Championship

The Hong Kong Baseball Association (HKBA) is looking for a Contract Coach to work with our coaching team of Hong Kong National Baseball Team to prepare for the 29th Asian Championship (the Championship) that to be held from in October 2019 in Taichung.  Some scenarios will require you to assist a head coach in their session, however in the majority of cases you will be given the responsibility of leading the sessions.

The Contract Coach need to work with HKBA in achieving the jointly defined goals of elite training and oversee the planning, design, implementation and evaluation of the baseball elite training programme in line with the agreed training and competition aims of HKBA. To work closely with the Hong Kong National Baseball Team Coaching Team/Team Manager on the following tasks and report operationally to the Vice-chairman for Elite Training, administratively to Secretary General of HKBA and the direct supervisor of the assigned job(s).

Duties and responsibilities:
— To provide technical support to the Head Coach of Hong Kong Team in preparing and implementing Hong Kong Team training both on and off the field
— To supervise the selected national team athletes to keep their best physical and psychological conditions throughout the training and games periods for the Championship
— To assist the Head Coach in evaluating and selecting the best performing athletes into the Team, fine-tuning the training program and formulating game strategies for the Championship
— To prepare regular individual and team reports on the training
— To co-ordinate with Strengthening and Conditioning Coach and Sports Therapist to keep the athletes in top sharp and prevent sports injury
— To create systematic opportunities for talent to emerge through related programmes.
— To undertake any other duties and ad hoc projects as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications:
— Minimum of 5 years of relevant coaching experience at national team or professional team level
— Good track record of coaching experience at the international competition level
— Good knowledge in formulating game strategies, evaluating performance of athletes and complying the anti-doping regulations
— Good communicative and organizing skills
— Good command of written and spoken Chinese OR English

Terms and Conditions for the Employment:
The employment is made on a contract with the duration from June 2019 to October 2019.  The contract is expected to be ended 7 days after the completion of the Championship. The appointed Contract Coach should submit written report on the effectiveness of preparation and performance after the Championship.  The contract term will be extended two months to December 2019 if team performance target met.

The Hong Kong Baseball Association will assist the appointed Contract Coach to apply for working visa from the Hong Kong Immigration Department. It normally takes 45 days to proceed.  HKBA is responsible for the working visa fee and postage in mailing the working visa to the successful candidate.

The monthly salary is HK$40,000 (about US$5,100), inclusive of all terms and conditions.

Food and lodging in Hong Kong, international transport, local travelling and any extra costs all at the Contract Coach's own expense and own arrangements.

Estimated number of working hours: not less than 40 hours per week in accordance with the training schedule and requirements, including on-field training, monthly progress report, evaluation reports, regular meeting with the coaching team and may be invited to meet the management of the Association and required paper work.
